A WEEK OF DELICACIES AND DELIGHTES IN CAMPANIA

Take the chance to visit the highlights of Campania, while enjoying a nice cooking lesson or a delicious tasting, together with Vinviaggiando food and wine experts.
Have a stroll among gardens and vineyards and find yourself enchanted in front of  beautiful coastal views, while sipping a glass of wine chatting to the wine maker or admiring the power of nature at the mouth of a volcano.

FIRST DAY
You will arrive at your hotel in Naples in the late afternoon  to meet Piera, or one of her experts, your Campania food and wine expert who will be with you all week.
For dinner we will move to a very small traditional trattoria where the colourful owner,
with his Neapolitan charm, will serve us delicious local courses.

SECOND DAY
This day will be entirely dedicated to the art and cousine of Naples.
In the morning we will start with a walk through the “decumani”, the old main roads of the Greek and Roman town, still the heart of the historical centre nowadays .
While visiting the beautiful monuments, we will enjoy a guided tour of the city, focusing
on the contrasts between the Christian and the pagan traditions of Naples.
For lunch, the world famous Neapolitan pizza and then a walk by the sea, where the Greeks
first settled, and famous today for the Royal palace, and its magnificent castles.
In the late afternoon, after a short transfer by “funicolare” we will reach the upper part of
Naples for a cooking lesson, where we will make traditional Neapolitan dishes, that will be
served during our dinner, while sipping a glass of a local wine.

THIRD DAY
Today we will visit the wonderful Royal palace of Caserta, built in the Eighteenth century
as a copy of Versailles. We will then have lunch in a local restaurant and in the afternoon
we will visit a well known winery, for a tasting and a guided visit of the eleventh
century cellars, dug in limestone.
Once back at the hotel we will move to a traditional Neapolitan restaurant for dinner
served while as we take in the beautiful view.

FOURTH DAY
We will leave our hotel and head to the town of Castellamare. After visiting a secluded
Roman Villa, which was buried under the ashes of Vesuvius in 79 AD and incredibly
still intact, we will move to a traditional, family-run pasta making company in Gragnano
where we will see  the last of the women who still make the famous fusilli pasta by hand.
The bravest among us will also try to make their own fusilli.
For lunch we will be welcomed inside the small taverna,  belonging to the same pasta
company owners where we will taste deliciuos recipies prepared by the women of the family.
From Gragnano we will take a breath-taking ride along a very wild coast, that will lead us
to the village of Positano where we will have a short walk around the picturesque  side
streets and alleyways, dense with tiny local designer shops.
Our day will finish in Amalfi where we will be welcomed at our hotel with a light dinner.

FIFTH DAY
This day will be completely dedicated to the world famous old naval Republique of Amalfi.
First stop together for a sweet morning appetizer at a tiny pastry shop, followed by the visit
of a hand-made paper store and later by the encounter with a liqueur producer to
see his making of limoncello where we will have a sip, too.
After visiting the Duomo, the medieval cathedral dedicated to Saint Andrew, with its amazing
cloister and antique relics, we will be hosted for lunch on the panoramic terrace of a
famous hotel.
Before sitting, we will have the privilege to watch the chefs at work and to taste fresh
seafood fritters served in the traditional  “cuoppo”, once street food but today considered
a delicacy.
Overlooking the wonderful bay, we will taste the traditional dishes that we prepared
together, while sipping a rare organic wine produced in the surrounding mountains.
Our afternoon will be spent in Ravello, where we will have some spare time to stroll around
the village or to visit the beautiful Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo with their amazing views.
Our evening will be free.

SIXTH DAY
In the morning we will head South towards Capaccio Scalo (SA) where we
will be welcomed inside  a  buffalo mozzarella making farm of the area.
We will have a tour of the stables and the dairy where we will view the making of the cheese
by-hand and then, after a delicious mozzarella tasting together with other biological
products, we will move to Paestum for a guided visit of its Greek temples dating back
to 600 BC. Our evening will be free.

SEVENTH DAY
Today we will visit the world famous Pompei and have the chance to see how people
where caught by surprise by the eruption of Vesuvious on a summer night in 79 AD.
We will then move to a near- by winery, set at the foot of the Volcano where the wine
makers will show us around their beautiful vineyards overlooking the bay of Naples and
Sorrento. For our lunch we will be seated inside a restored farm house where we will
taste traditional and freshly made dishes, served with the famous Lacryma Christi wine.
In the afternoon we will be picked up by special equipped track buses that will take us
through the Vesuvius National Park, up to the Mouth of the Vulcano, where a group
of volcanologists/scientific guides will lead us around.
